Mortgages, and a good broker, play key parts when you are a property investor.
This may sound obvious but having a reliable efficient broker can help you secure a deal which is time critical, which is often the reason an agent will deal with you, and allow you to secure a good deal.
It is also very important in the world of buy to let, that you are fully aware of the monthly repayments to make sure potential rents would cover them. And what happens if interest rates go up 0.5%? Should you take a fixed rate for security?
It is important when working out your monthly costs, you allow for void periods, and maintenance costs as well as your monthly repayments.
You need to be clear on best options regarding interest only or capital and interest repayments and fixed rate or variable rate repayments.
My recommendations? Firstly ideally speak to an independent broker, so you are not limited to only one lender.

Independent so will not be limited in the mortgages they can offer you
Are efficient ie they chase you, not the other way around!!
Understand the world of property investing!
If can get all these qualities, stick with them! It can be difficult to get hold of a good, reliable broker.
